Bible study

I made friends with Richard and Paul in West End church. Richard is in charge of Bible discussion group in Spring Hill. He asked me to join this group and studied with other brothers and sisters.

Paul is a worker for housing. he said that my spoken English is excellent. He even tested my Chinese name. Of course, I'm modest to say that there is some room to ameliorate.

In the afternoon, I went out for jogging. I saw many Australians having BBQ or a picnic in Orleigh park near Brisbane river. That's fantastic and terrific because they know how to enjoy life and how to balance working days and relaxing days.

class and share house experience

Last night was my geat time in marketing management class on GP campus. Larry was funny and interesting person because he told us some jokes about marketing strategies. All strategies were from USA cases and he spoke English in American way. We had some activities and discussion during the class.

After class, Nigel's wife, Anna told me that I needed to move out until 8/2 because she has been pregnant for at least two weeks and they hope to have a brand-new family life in the future. Their baby will appear someday.

I was shocked and surprised immediately so I contacted my Taiwanese classmates like Josh, Grace, Knight and Erin about accommodation option between share house or unilodge which are better for me. Knight said, I think that share house is a good option because we are abroad and need to make friends with other people who are from different countries and all over the world.

So, I went to Sun Brisabane website looking for housing information in English. Fortunately, I 've got instant information of West End share house. The landlord is from Taiwan. And the landlord's agent is also from the same country. The agent's name is Athena.

Today, I went to 9 O'Connell street, West End. The accommodation is really clean and tidy so I deposited two weeks in advance to book my unit.

It's located near boundary street and I can go to West End church every Sunday.

overseas study

There is no doubt that studying in a foreign country, with its different language and culture, can be a frustrating and sometimes painful experience. In my opinion, though overseas study has its drawbacks, its advantages actually outweigh disadvantages. People studying abroad could open themselves up to experieneces that those who stay at home never have.

The most obvious advantage to overseas study is the opportunity to apply a different langauge to real life. The best way to improve our second-langauge skills is to live in a country in which it is spoken. Besides, being equipped with second- langauge skills gives a student a distinct advantage when he applies for a job back home which requires the use of this language.

In addition, on an overseas study campus, a foreign student is likely to encounter a student who is from other country or cultural background and makes friends with them. For one thing, student can broaden their social horizons and world views by associating with people from different backgrounds. For another, it could mean very important contacts in their future careers when they enter society to start to work.

Finally, living and studying abroad can help students gain different perspectives of the world. Onec students ovecome teh initial culture shock, he will gradually get a meaningful understanding of a foreign culture and society . On returning home, students may look at their home country in a new light.

Admittedly, though anxiety of studying overseas is fully understandable, it is important to remember that the benefits offered by the experience make it worthwhile.

church and movie

Today, I went to West End United Church to have a religious service. I met a Baptism service for little baby whose name is Madeline Isabel Preston. She was very young approximately 6 months. The pastor was friendly and nice because he treated me like family members and even gave us bread and wine on Holy communion day.

There is an Indain woman sitting next to me; we had a nice chat about church service procedure, as I was fresh to this church but I think it's almost the same process like other churches that I attended in Taiwan. I also met a girl who is a backpacker from Germany and she lived nearby.

After that, I took a bus and walked to Grey street because I hoped to find a good cinema that I could relax a little. I finally found a movie theater whose name is Southbank Cinema 5 near Southbank parkland which I had barbecue with Richard Lee and other South America friends like Bob, Nicolas.

I watched "Transformer" that is a American style movie. It had high technology of aircrafts and carriers, robots in the movie and it also showed some energetic music sang by Linkin Park band.

Overall, I like this movie.

West end daylight market

I went to the West End market with Nigel this morning and we bought fresh vegetables and fruit quickly. The weather was sunny and nice. I felt tired when I was back home from GP campus in the early morning. I washed my old clothes finally. I still think about if I need to buy winter jacket in Target retail store on Queen's street or not.
